The most epic mecha game !

If you know Gundam, this year is the 30th anniversary and it is a universe full of big mecha battles.

Below is a video on how to play and what it is about with subtitles for you peeps who dont know any japanese. Quality is slightly bad soundwise but it gets the point accross

The English subtitles appear in the top left, and aren't all that useful.
Sound is teribad, and you're better off just muting it.
As far as VR goes it's fairly sophisticated, but it's not really my kind of game.
I mean, if I had a giant robot, why would I have it run in to hit other robots with a sword?

Well you could always shoot them before they could hit you with it. Besides you'd hit it with your sword to stop them hitting you with it. Remember its war in the universe they're in.

yeah, but it's like saying why don't we attach bayonets to weapons anymore, answer is the other guy is usually shot before he gets to you
I don't mean to sound bitter about the whole thing, and don't get me wrong, giant fighting robots are awesome, I just think it seems silly to have them use swords.

That aside I think it has something to do with the way the armour is made on the mobile suits. Shooting will damage it but its more efficient to use the weight and sharpness of the close combat weapon per hit. Thats assuming you can get close enough.

Different armour and system but the original battletech mechs did have close combat capability albiet very limited. Then again these mechs moved like tanks instead of being agile like the gundams.

Also today came up against some stronger EDF forces, round one ended up being blown up once and my team lost, but we came back and won round 2 making the game a tie. Didn't die in round 2 and almost took another player out but he was lucky enough to get back to base in time to get repairs.
