PostSubject: sup to the shamans   sup to the shamans I_icon_minitimeTue May 19, 2009 7:35 am

im not gonna try and make this awesome and stuff ill just progressively add some things to this as i think of tips that up coming dps healing shamans could use as help and if you see anything that ive said wrong feel free to add some stuff or correct it Very Happy

Group buff: Bloodlust: a very helpful skill it makes all spell and attack speed increase by 30% (very handy) the times it hsould be used is when the tank asks for it or when you see in the near future, things going awry or a boss is about to rage and start buttfucking everyone.

Air totems: Elemental and Restoration: windfury/wrath of air totems: both very handy totems depending on what you want, if your trying to help out the melee dps and dont need an extra 5% spell haste, personally i say go for it people love you and its a very helpful totem although im not sure whether its been made redundant by a frost Dks group buff. Wrath of air is a good totem for spellcasters, they will love you for it, although it only makes a small difference every little thing counts.

Fire totems: Elemental: Totem Of Wrath well totem of wrath....its just balls, the most awesome totem you can put down to help spellcasters if your an elemental

Fire totems: Restoration: Flametougne Totem: a handy totem for spellcasting, not as good as TOW but still handy and it should always be used.

Earth Totems: Elemental And Restoration: Strength Of Earth: a handy totem for melee dps if there is no death knight in the party, its always welcomed and loved along with windfury totem.

Earth Totems: Elemental And Restoration: Tremor Totem: a totem that should be used often to avoid sleep and fear effects its a much loved totem in many instances and most of the time can save the whole party from death (in a way).

Earth Totems: Elemental And Restoration: Stoneskin Totem: this is my default totem to have down it adds about 1.5k armor to the party, its ok to have down if you have a death knight and nothing around fears or sleeps.

Water Totems: Elemental And Restoration: Mana Stream Totem: The arthas of all totems IMO this little guy will almost always keep you from ooming by a few thousand mana if your killing a high health tank and spank boss (like patchwork) and all the spellcasters will love you for it.

Water Totems: Restoration: Mana Tide Totem: the best mana regeneration totem out there this will give everyone within range about 1-1.3k mana every 2 seconds this is vary useful for those long boss battles when your trying to heal the tank for a long time.

Water Totems: Elemental And Restoration: Healing Stream Totem: a handy little totem for that little extra healing of the party in elemental or enhancement spec it heals for around 150 but at resto spec it heals around 250-300 every 2 seconds.

well thats about all on totems and group buffs that i can think of, if anyone can think of more please let me know and ill add them thanks and i hope it helps Very Happy

How about some information about rotations?
What's your Elemental rotation on:
>trash?
>AoE Pulls?
>Bosses?

What's your resto rotation for:
>healing groups?
>healing tanks?

What buffs (if any) need to be monitored and/or maintained?

How should certain spells be used?

Maybe link some possible specs and glyphs

What stats hold a higher weight (eg: int > sp > crit > ...)?

Just some Ideas for you to further your guide.

My elemental rotation would be (cause of my glyphs that i have carefully chosen for my rotation) i would start with a flame shock then follow by a lava burst then about 3-4 lightning bolts (depending on haste and spec) then another laba burst then repeat.

aoe pulls are a way different story for an elemental shaman, unfortunately we dont have many aoes but if you use them right youll start topping dps, run up and drop a magma totem its only about 1k every 2 secs but with aoe pulls ur dps spikes up around 200-400 then id drop an earthbind totem (i have the talent that roots mobs with earthbind) and then follow that up with a thunderstorm (not only can it bring your dps up to 16k for a few seconds if it crits dpending on gear spec spell power and such but it also gives your mana a top up) then follow by a chain lightning now and then.

bosses? well that depends on many things like what boss it is whether it has spell reflect and such (same for aoe and trash pulls) but if its just a chunk of meat (AKA patchwerk) that just basically sits there and takes damage then my rotation is the same for trash mobs except i use elemental mastery straight after the first lightning bolt after the first lava burst that way you can pull out 4 lightning bolts doin about 4-5k each in les than a second (lightning overload) and from then on you just go nuts with the rotation and if you get bored change it around a bit.

RESTORATION:

i have no resto rotations regarding main tank or dps i just mostly use riptide and lesser healing wave on the dps if they get hurt and use chain heal on the tank now and then to top up the party and the tank then use tidal waves to my advantage. (sorry but personally IMO healing is a descisive thing use the right spells for the right occasion as far as you see them needed)

buffs (totems)
ELEMENTAL: always have totem of wrath, mana spring totem (if no pally is in party if there is use healing stream or cleansing totem) but cleansing should have priority if your in a place with poisons (azjol nerub for example) tremor totem (if fear sleep or charm users are in the area) or strength of earth totem (to help the melee) and windfury (to help the melee) or wrath of air (to help spellcasters) it depeneds on whether theres more casters or melee dps.

ill show you all my spec/glyph set

http://www.wowarmory.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Barthilas&n=Shroomfire

ignore the glyph of lesser healing wave on my elemental spec thats meant to be glyph of lava burst.

ELEMENTAL: the stats as an elemental you should focus on are crit rating intellect and spell power (spell power and crit rating are most important)

RESTO: MP5 intellect and spell power are important but take priority over MP5 and intellect (adequate spell power should come with mp5 and intellect gear)

Hope that helps Very Happy

TOTEM SPEC:
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#hxI0VbZGMMI0VbZVfezccoLo:sVrzMm
This spec is widely regarded among the shaman elite as one of the best support roles that a shaman can be. It gives a shaman all the tools he or she would need to fulfil any raids totem needs.
