| Oh i see. Well if you can find a vent server that support mac then I'm happy to go. But i don't particularly want to change VoIP programs all together. The the only viable options are skype (prob not what we need it for) and teamspeak (i use the word 'viable' VERY loosely when it comes to this program). | |

| pfft lagspeak fails, I've better things to waste my bandwidth on. You have an ETA on your computer? or aren't you getting it back? But, as Uri said, if you can get a vent server that works, I have no problem. (except I'd have to alter my vent guide... again.) | |

| Getting a new vent server isn't as easy as what most people think. I've looked into it quite a bit and heres some things I've come up with: Running a vent server myself is a big strain on my own bandwidth (and anyone elses who might try) Renting one isn't too bad on close inspection - Bare with me for a moment. I believe if we are to be running a 25man, 25 will be minimum needed. Also another 5 man might be in progress or people (like lanky) might want to sit in on the 25 man and, as lanky already is, be quite useful. 30 seems a logical number to aim for even if we dont try to get that many instantly.. work towards. TypeFrag:Users | 1Month | 3Months | 6Months | 1Year | 30 | $12.00 | $32.40 | $57.60 | $86.40 |
//discounts for ordering multiple months. The Game Monster:Users | 1Month | 3Months | 6Months | 1Year | 32 | $8.10 | x3 | x6 | x12 |
//flatrate Hypernia:Users | 1Month | 3Months | 6Months | 1Year | 30 | $7.50 | x3 | x6 | x12 |
//flatrate **All Prices are USD** I know people who use hypernia, they seem about 98% reliable from the months i spent in one of their servers and their pings are quite low. All of these allow the Speex codec to be used which will let mac users speak and hear along with the windows users. The final option is for me to start the hunt for another free, public server which alows the Speex codec to be used. This is prob the lowest likely option from what I've seen in free servers before. /END Useful Post

| In all honesty I'd still prefer staying with the ga server as most of the guild will get free traffic using it and working on a way to get mac fixed for it. That and being an Australian server being run by an Isp affiliated company guarentees there will be no urgent raid chatter being heard 10 seconds after it's too late.
That being said a new vent server would allow more customizability, as long as it can be proven to be just as reliable. So just in case keep both, you never know could be useful for multiple runs.

-- I have to disagree, i doubt even half of the people will get free usage plus a vent channel with 20 people constantly talking is about 5kb/s downspeed. I was reading vent bandwidth usage. - Redwall wrote:

-- Not going to happen in GA, you need to change the codec to Speex and GA wont do it. I asked an admin. - Redwall wrote:
